Becoming More Like Christ Through Your Church

DAY 3 OF 7

Grow as a Disciple in the Church by Sharing the Gospel Freely

The call to share the gospel is a fundamental command given to local churches. It is not merely an option for believers - it is a mandate to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to all nations. This mission is central to the purpose of the church and essential for the spiritual growth of its members. The local church serves as the primary context where believers are equipped, encouraged, and empowered to fulfill this great commission.

In the church, we become more committed followers of Christ when we actively share the gospel. Engaging in evangelism deepens our faith, enhances our understanding of the gospel, and increases our reliance on the Holy Spirit. As we step out in faith to share the message of Christ, we experience personal growth and a more profound commitment to living out our faith authentically. The church community supports this journey by providing teaching, training, and opportunities to practice and perfect our evangelistic efforts.

Acts 1:8 contains the last words of Christ on Earth, underscoring the importance of being His witnesses. Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (NLT). This verse highlights the fact that every believer is called to be a witness of Christ’s love and salvation. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit equips us to share the gospel boldly and effectively, ensuring that the message of Christ reaches every corner of the world.

Everyone in the church is called to share the good news of Christ. This responsibility is not limited to pastors and church leaders but extends to every believer. The local church plays a crucial role in equipping its members for this task. Through preaching, teaching, small groups, and evangelism training programs, the church provides the tools and encouragement needed to share the gospel confidently and compassionately.

As members of the local church, we must embrace our role in spreading the gospel. This involves personal commitment and a collective effort to support one another in this mission. When we share the gospel, we contribute to the growth of God’s Kingdom and experience the joy and fulfillment that come from obeying Christ’s command.

By actively participating in the mission to share the gospel through the local church, we fulfill Christ’s command, grow as committed followers, and extend the reach of His love and salvation to the world.

About this Plan

Becoming More Like Christ Through Your Church

From Acts 2 to Revelation 3, Scripture focuses on God’s work through the local church. Indeed, the local church is God’s 'plan A' for His mission on Earth, and He didn’t give us a 'plan B'. If we truly want to make a difference in this world, we will do so joyfully through our local church by serving others and serving the world.
