Reading With the People of God - #4 Comfortናሙና
Empowered to Serve
"...makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him."
Living for Christ also means serving others in His name. Jesus set the ultimate example of servanthood, and He calls us to follow in His footsteps. "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45).
Our willingness to serve comes from a heart transformed by Christ's love. The Holy Spirit empowers us to serve selflessly, to put others' needs above our own, and to share the love of Jesus through our actions. This service is a tangible expression of our faith and a powerful testimony to the world.
Reflect on how you can serve others in your daily life. What opportunities do you have to show Christ's love through your actions? Ask God to open your eyes to the needs around you and to give you the willingness and readiness to serve.
In prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to serve others wholeheartedly. Seek His guidance in identifying specific ways you can be a blessing to those around you. Commit to living out your faith through acts of service, trusting that God will use you to make a difference in the lives of others.
Today's prayer of illumination:
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me to live for You. Help me to be ready and willing to follow You in every area of my life. Give me the courage to serve You faithfully and to be a light for others. Strengthen my commitment to Your will. In Your name, Amen.
Memorization Challenge of the Month:
Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 1
Q1. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A1. That I am not my own, but belong— body and soul, in life and in death— to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
