Learning from Falls
In judo, falling is part of the learning process. Each fall teaches something new, helping the judoka to get up stronger and more prepared. It is through falls that one learns the art of getting up and perfecting techniques. On the mat, falls are not seen as failures but as opportunities for growth and strengthening.
In the Christian life, we also face falls and stumbles. We go through moments of weakness, make mistakes, and face failures. However, the Bible teaches us that the righteous may fall many times, but they will always get up. This resilience does not come from our own strength but from the grace and love of God. Each fall is an opportunity to learn to trust God more, to seek His guidance, and to grow in our faith.
When we face difficulties, it is easy to get discouraged and feel defeated. But in Christ, we have the promise that He is always by our side, ready to lift us up. Just as in judo, where one learns to fall and get up repeatedly, our spiritual life is a continuous process of learning and growth. Each challenge, each stumble, is a chance to draw closer to God and become stronger in our walk with Him.
Challenge: Reflect on a recent fall or failure. What did you learn from it? How can you use this experience to grow spiritually? Share this lesson with someone who might be going through a similar situation.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being with me in every fall. Teach me to see each stumble as an opportunity for growth. Give me the strength to always get up and move forward with renewed faith. May I learn from each challenge and become stronger in my walk with You. Amen.

ስለዚህ እቅድ
Judo came into our lives through my late husband, a judoka. When our daughter Bianca, then 9 years old, was bullied and threatened with a box cutter, we decided to enroll her in judo classes. A week later, she successfully defended herself. Today, my daughter owns a judo academy and my grandson Pedro competes at the national level. This is the inspiration for this devotional.
