The unshakeable kingdom

These verses have been a guiding light for me in my journey as a Christian, shaping the spiritual practice of worship in my life. The passage unveils worship not merely as a religious duty but as a sacred privilege and a transformative encounter with almighty God.

I’m reminded of the posture with which we are called to approach worship: with gratitude. It’s easy to take for granted the opportunity to draw near to God, to stand in His presence, and to offer Him the praise He deserves. Yet, this excerpt from Hebrews urges us to develop a spirit of thanksgiving, recognising the immeasurable grace that allows us to approach the throne of grace boldly.

The imagery of God as a consuming fire speaks deeply to me. It portrays His holiness and His refining presence, inspiring a desire within me to draw closer to Him and to allow His Spirit to purify my heart. In worship, I’m invited into the holy fire of His love where my fears are consumed and my faith is stress tested and strengthened.

Christian worship is not confined to a Sunday service or a set of religious rituals. Instead, it must be present in every aspect of my life, shaping my attitudes, actions and aspirations. It’s about surrendering my whole self to God, allowing His unshakable kingdom to reign in my heart and life.
