What Matters Most (The Book of 2 Timothy)ናሙና
REFLECT
He could have finished much faster. But he stayed with me. I tried to convince him to go on ahead at mile 6, but he stayed with me. I knew he could run this race faster backwards than I was running forwards, but he stayed with me. Mile marker number 13 never looked so good, and then my husband and I finally crossed the finish line together! My first half-marathon was in the books and that same day I received an email from the race team. When I opened it, boldly aligned across the middle, above my name, it read, “Finisher’s Certificate.”
In today’s passage, Paul senses that his death is drawing near, and he feels that he can see the finish line. As he ponders his journey to this point, he feels confident that he has served the Lord with all he has and held nothing back. He is anticipating his “finisher’s certificate” in Heaven; what a beautiful example for Timothy, and for us today!
Only one lifetime is given to you; what are you doing with the gift?
PRAY
Lord, grow my faith to the finish! May I serve you whole-heartedly, holding nothing back. Thank you for continued strength to do so. Amen.
