Life & Teachings of Jesus - Day 26

Do you ever feel like the whole crucifixion thing was so long ago? Was it real? Does it still apply? The disciples could understand the sentiment. They ate a meal with this amazing new teacher to remember an event that had occurred some 1400 years earlier. They grew up hearing the old story about the Hebrews slaves in Egypt—kill a lamb, blood on the doorposts, the angel of death passes over, blah, blah, blah. But that was so long ago. Did all those Egyptians really die? Did God really split the Red Sea wide open?

Yes. And now, 3600 years later, we can see that Jesus was the ultimate Passover Lamb of God who covered all of humanity with his blood so that we can have eternal life. Two thousand years is a long time, but Jesus’s blood never runs out.
