How to Be a Redemptive Change AgentSample

How to Be a Redemptive Change Agent

DAY 5 OF 6

Make God's desires for you, your desires for Him

Isaiah 40:31(KJV) But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

I first heard today’s scripture as a young teenager when I saw the Oscar® winning film Chariots of Fire about the 1924 British Olympic team. What really inspired me about the film was the story of Eric Liddell, a second-generation missionary from Scotland who struggled with the tension between his calling and the gifts that God had given him as a runner. God had given him a heart for others, to help create change by showing people the path to redemption, BUT God had also made him fast!

In the film, Eric Liddell is seen seeking God’s will while submitting himself to it. God provided a path where he could both run and serve God in a way that brought greater glory to what God was calling him to do. We remember Eric Liddell today, a hundred years later, not just because of his Olympic gold medal, but because he sought God’s will for his life.

We often choose to make it a struggle between our desires and what we feel God is calling us to do instead of going to God and looking for guidance. God wants us to make them one and the same! What we should be doing is seeking God’s will for our lives (Matthew 6:33). We should be listening to Him to direct our paths and guide our steps in life (Proverbs 3:5-6). God will give us the right desires for what we want, what we can do, and what He has planned for us to do (Psalm 37:4) if we just seek Him first.

Your challenge today is to begin seeking God’s desire for you as a redemptive change agent. Ask God to make your desires be His desires. Give God permission to direct your path. Let Him mold you into His agent of change in the place that He has called you to.
