The Greatest Motivationናሙና
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy
It's really sad when we see people who have drifted away from God, stopped attending church, or ceased serving in their ministries because they lost their motivation and got discouraged. Unfortunately, when Christians become discouraged, they slowly become spiritually cold, and gradually, the joy, peace, and hope that only God can give start to dry up inside them.
People often try to motivate us with their words, encourage us to keep going, and pray for us to return. Messages inspire us not to stray from the Lord, and all of this is very important. But we need to understand that the greatest motivation in a Christian's life doesn't come from external things; it comes from within us, from our hearts.
The greatest motivation in a Christian's life is: GRATITUDE TO GOD.
A Christian with a grateful heart keeps going despite difficulties, trials, and things they can't understand. A grateful heart knows that what they do is not for men, but for God (Colossians 3:23).
We need to understand that gratitude is a personal matter in each Christian's life (Psalm 103:1). Our relationship with God is personal, and therefore, gratitude is something each Christian must develop in their own life. Being grateful is a decision we each need to make, and that decision will direct our actions. If I decide to be grateful, that decision will be reflected in my actions, priorities, and ways.
It's important to understand that heartfelt gratitude begins with not forgetting what God has done in our lives (Psalm 103:2). An ungrateful heart forgets or is indifferent to the good things and favors others have done for them. Often, ingratitude starts with our own parents, as we don't value or recognize what they have done for us. That's why the Word of God invites us to have a grateful heart and repay our earthly parents (1 Timothy 5:4). And if we are not grateful to those we see, how can we be grateful to God whom we do not see? (1 John 4:20).
