Listen: Guided by the Holy Spiritናሙና
We recognize that there are other influences and entities who would like to influence believers. Scripture also makes it very clear that we can discern between God’s voice, the enemy’s voice and our own voice. This becomes even more important as we prophesy to others or receive prophetic words from others.
1 Corinthians 14:29 introduces us to an interesting dynamic –
‘So let two or three prophets speak [those inspired to preach or teach], while the rest pay attention and weigh and discern what is said.’
This provides a necessary fail-safe in weighing what has been said. In the New Testament, we recognize that all believers have the capacity and joy of being led by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the person receiving supernatural information from the Lord and sharing that with someone else has an important role to play, as well as the person who stands on the receiving end of the word. Both of them are discerning and weighing what the Spirit has to say. Much like those movies one sees when a nuclear weapon is launched, it requires two people, with two keys to activate that launch sequence at the same time. Only then will that word be effective and provide the fruit it is capable of.
