Through God's Eyes

DAY 9 OF 10

The least-reached are people who do not have access to a church where the Gospel is preached in their own language and culture. Statistics show that 80% of Christian workers minister to the 7.6% of the world population who speak English. So, based on the Scriptures you have been studying, who should be reached with the Gospel? Let’s take a closer look at this in this session.

In this session, we will break it down into three parts: God focus, Paul focus, and Our focus. Why are we doing this? We want to help you best see the different roles of mission. After all, the whole point of the study is to understand God’s view of mission, the call on our life, and how to actually apply this.

More than 8 billion people are on Earth, and nearly 5 billion are not Christians.

Let's pause and take that in. 8 billion people. Five billion are not Christian. What does that tell us? That harvest is plentiful, yet the workers are few (Luke 10:2). The mission field is huge. And if it were to radically change our lives and obey Christ in making disciples, this number could change dramatically.

But let's go deeper. Let's take a look at our Deaf community. Our people. According to the World Federation of Deaf, there are more than 70 million Deaf people worldwide. The general consensus among Christian organizations like the North American Mission Board, International Mission Board, DOOR, and Deaf Bible Society says that 98% of Deaf people have never heard the Gospel or know Jesus. 70 Million Deaf People. 98% are not Christians.

Again, what does that tell us? The mission field to reach Deaf people is vast and ripe.

In Psalm 67, God shows us what happens when people experience and encounter the living God. God's focus is that we would be a people that bring glory to Him. How so? It tells us that we would be a people who praise God. Not just certain people but all people. That He would be a God who judges people equally. That as the number of people increases on earth, God will bless us. We were created to bring God glory. The Gospel reaches all people, all nations, to the end of the earth.

Everything we say and do is meant to bring glory to the name of the Lord.

When we look at Paul, focus. He was focused on going where the Gospel hadn’t reached. In Romans 15:20, Paul writes, “...and I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named…”

Why is that important for us to know? We don’t need to go where the Gospel is already established, but we need to go where the Gospel has not been preached. If we make the disciples of all nations, Paul's focus also has to be ours.

Imagine what would happen if we were to do that. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” What do we have to fear if we have God on our side? Nothing. Like Paul, we understand what happens when the good news has been preached to those who have not heard; they will finally understand and see ( Romans 15:21)

So what is our focus? Well, it is what we discussed earlier. It is to bring the glory of God known to all and to preach the good news to those who have not heard. The mission field is huge. You have the opportunity to impact the lives with the gospel message.
