DAY 2 OF 5

Embrace Humility and Thankfulness

Reflection:

Even in your most challenging season, God provides you with opportunities to embrace and experience humility and thankfulness.

The moments when you most need help are often the moments when it’s hardest to ask for it. Shame and fear can so easily creep in, isolating you and making you doubt whether God and others really care. One way you can curb these doubts is to be honest with your own failings and embrace humility. Humility allows you to let go of having it all together because you realize that God has never expected that of you. He knows your struggles and is looking for your faith to grow.

Recalling how God helped you in the past will bolster your faith and lead you to ask for His help now. When you can see that He has been faithful before, it’s easier to trust His faithfulness again.

God also invites you to embrace joy amid your suffering, and gratitude is the key. By expressing thanksgiving for the ways God is growing you during your trials, you can recognize that God is near and working all things for good.

It is okay not to understand your current experiences or to be unable to see the road ahead. God is in control, and He is never surprised by the twists and turns in your life. He is orchestrating good things, some of which may be right in front of you. You are encouraged to embrace His goodness during difficult circumstances.

God, during this time when life feels upended, help me to remind myself of Your truth and remember that You invite me to joy no matter the circumstances. Help me appreciate the things You are currently doing in my life and remember all the times You have been faithful in the past.
