Godly Parenting: What Does the Bible Say About the Purpose of Having Children?

DAY 3 OF 3

Love

Over the last two days we discussed your children being God’s gift to you, and we also talked about training your child in the very blueprint that God has ordained for them. However, we must not forget this concept of Love. Now, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 gives us a pretty good criteria on how to lovingly handle and even shape our children into responsible citizens and humble human beings. However, none of that truly matters if they are never introduced to their real Father.

“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

You see, one of the tragedies that can happen in raising children is that we forget that Jesus wants to start a relationship with them early. This means introducing spiritual concepts as early as possible—like teaching them the importance of prayer and how to pray; also, reading the Bible or finding scriptures to recite and memorize; and lastly, worshiping with your children early. You might be surprised that your children don’t think these activities are boring, but what you are doing is awakening their true spiritual nature to the things of God. This will help create the bridge to when they accept and receive Jesus as their personal Savior. The most loving thing you can do is introduce your children to their real Father through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). So today, ask God to surround your children with destiny individuals through their life to establish a relationship with Jesus. As a parent, this is ultimately your main purpose and why it’s important to continue to have children for the kingdom of God.

We hope you were blessed by this three-day devotional. However, your assignment is not complete. As parents, we must understand we are in a war and remember the enemy is after our children. Thing is, do you know how to fight? Don’t worry. We have a resource for you. Damien recently wrote a book titled, Completely Set Free that shares several principles on how to biblically fight against the adversary, expose his plan, and keep him from gaining a foothold in your home, especially with your children. Check out and purchase the book today!

Day 2

About this Plan

Godly Parenting: What Does the Bible Say About the Purpose of Having Children?

The enemy is after our children. He is envious of God’s seed because every single child has a divine purpose to advance the kingdom of God. As the body of Christ we must continue to share the truth about the blessing of having children which aligns with God’s heart. This devotional provides three biblical principles to remind us what the Bible says about the importance and purpose of having children.
