ONE: FCA Reading Plan For Competitors

DAY 24 OF 31

Your Gift, His Ministry

By Rex Stump

READY:

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” – 1 Peter 4:10

SET:

It's no secret that I'm not fast, nor do I have the ability to jump high. To top it off, I'm average height. So when I played collegiate volleyball, I obviously was not a strong front-row player. I also hated receiving serves, because passing was one of my weaknesses. So what were my strengths? Setting and serving. I was confident when finding my hitters and when serving the ball at my opponent. On the court, I believed God gave me the tools to compete. At the time I didn't realize that through volleyball, God also was giving me tools to glorify Him as a coach.

In Judges 6, we read that God chose a man named Gideon to free the Israelites from their opponents, the Amalekites. One day while Gideon was threshing wheat, the angel of the Lord approached him and told him of this choosing. Not convinced of his ability, Gideon debated the angel. Could God really use him? Seeking proof that it was really God recruiting him, Gideon made an offering. In response, the angel took Gideon's staff, touched his offering, and immediately fire rose out from the rock it was sitting on and consumed everything! Using Gideon’s staff, God demonstrated His power!

Could it be that God wants to demonstrate His power through the tools He gives us? Yield yourself and your talents to God and allow Him to work through you for His glory!

GO:

1. Do you doubt God’s ability to use you?

2. Have you ever considered your talent as a tool to glorify God?

3. How can you use your talent to give God glory?

WORKOUT:

Judges 6

Romans 12:1-9

Ephesians 4:7

OVERTIME:

“Father, thank You for giving me specific skills. Help me use them for Your glory. I take no credit, and I pray that others will turn to You by watching me use these talents for Your glory.”
