Trusting Jehovah Jireh
As believers, we are called to trust in Jehovah Jireh, our provider and sustainer.
One powerful way we demonstrate this trust is through the act of tithing.
Today, let us explore the significance of tithing and how it reflects our faith in God’s abundant provision.
1. Our Provider:
In Genesis 22:14, Abraham named the place where God provided a ram for the sacrifice, “Jehovah Jireh” which translates into “The Lord will provide.” God has always been faithful in providing for His people and this attribute of God has not changed. When we tithe, we declare our confidence in His faithfulness to provide for all our needs according to His riches in glory.
2. A Test of Our Trust:
Malachi 3:10 challenges us to bring our whole tithe into the storehouse. It is both an invitation and a test. God urges us to test Him in this area of our lives, promising to pour out abundant blessings upon those who trust Him with their finances. Tithing is an act of faith, demonstrating that we believe in God’s ability to multiply what we give and meet our needs.
3. Blessings Beyond Measure:
When we tithe, we position ourselves to receive God’s blessings. Not only does God promise to open the floodgates of heaven, but He assures us that there won’t be enough room to store all the blessings He pours out!
4. A Heart of Gratitude and Surrender:
Tithing isn’t limited to a mere financial obligation, it’s an expression of our gratitude and surrender to God. By willingly giving back a portion of what we’ve received, we acknowledge that everything belongs to Him. Tithing cultivates a generous, selfless heart, aligning our priorities with God’s kingdom and purposes.
5. Trusting in God’s Promises:
Tithing builds our faith as we witness God’s faithfulness in our lives. We learn to trust that He will provide for us, even in times of uncertainty. Our obedience in tithing positions us to experience the joy of seeing God’s hand at work, meeting our needs and exceeding our expectations.
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our Jehovah Jireh, our provider. Help us trust in Your faithfulness and honor You with our offerings. Increase our faith as we step out in obedience, knowing that You will pour out blessings upon us. May our tithing glorify Your name and advance Your kingdom. In Jesus' name, amen.
