3 Steps to a Renewed MindSample

3 Steps to a Renewed Mind

DAY 1 OF 3

Tear Down

A new study from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem says, “Reactive control, which is acknowledging the thought and then moving the focus back to something else, may help people prevent a thought from immediately coming to mind again. However, full proactive control, which prevents the thought from reaching consciousness in the first place, is much harder to achieve.”

We may not be able to proactively stop our thoughts from reaching consciousness; however, we can do something about it once it arrives.

2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

The strongholds that Paul is referring to in this text are our thoughts. Not just any thoughts but evil thoughts, ideas, or perceptions. Anything that enters the mind that contradicts the true moral nature and character of God.

Many of us get bombarded with negative thoughts. These thoughts create a stronghold, or in other words, a fortress, around our minds and, ultimately, around our lives.

The enemy plants these seeds, builds a tower in our minds, and tells us that God is a liar. God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made, but the enemy tells you you’re not pretty enough or smart enough. God tells you you are above and not beneath; the enemy says you are worthless.

We start to believe and then live out the lies of the enemy. However, the scripture says we are to pull down the strongholds. In the Greek, the pulling down of strongholds means destruction and demolition. It’s like taking dynamite or a bulldozer to those thoughts and destroying it.

How do we do this? How do we destroy ungodly thoughts? There was a time when I thought this could not be controlled. How do you escape the thoughts that run rampant in your mind? I used to believe that you can’t escape what enters your mind. It’s in you, and you can’t escape yourself.

You may not be able to get away from your consciousness; however, you can start tearing down the strongholds by recognizing the lie and giving these thoughts to God. The Bible showed me the way, and it changed my life forever.

Let’s strike a match and send destruction to these ungodly thought patterns.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I trust you in tearing down the strongholds of my mind. I submit my thoughts to you and refuse to allow the enemy in. May every evil and negative thought come crumbling down now in the name of Jesus.
