Being Made Whole Through The Gospelናሙና
Abide Under His Shadow
Reflect:
Peace is not the absence of difficulty. To the contrary, peace is the sustaining power of God’s presence in difficult times. We often think if we could only find peace, our troubles would end – but in a fallen world, troubles are a part of the human existence. Peace is found where God is found. To “abide under His shadow” is to be so near to God, His shadow falls over us.
The enemy wants us to believe our troubles are caused by God, not by the sinful world we live in. If he can get us to blame God, he can prevent us from drawing into that place of peace and protection. Satan knows the power of God’s presence, and he will stop at nothing to keep us from drawing near.
Jesus Christ brought the power of God to our humble world: “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1). God dwells with us, but we choose whether or not we draw near. Like a family under one roof, we can live in the same house without cultivating true intimacy. By drawing near to God, we abide in the safety of His love – the only place where true peace is found.
Pray:
Lord, help me draw near to you in my thoughts, words, and actions.
Your Turn:
How can you consciously draw near to God this week?
