Thank God for Problems

DAY 2 OF 6

Divine Perspective

Welcome to Day 2 of our devotional journey, where we're delving deep into how challenges can reshape our outlook.

Consider this: when life sails smoothly, it's tempting to think we've got it all figured out and to rely solely on our abilities. It's easy to unintentionally elevate ourselves to godlike status, trusting only in our strength.

But then, problems knock on our door, and suddenly, our facade of self-sufficiency crumbles. We confront our limitations and realize our utter helplessness without God.

I vividly recall waiting outside the intensive care unit, where my daughter fought for her life. At that moment, I understood that neither my title, network nor my net worth could offer any solace—I needed God.

It's a humbling realization, isn't it?

Problems act as a wake-up call, reminding us that we require God more than we often acknowledge. When we respond to problems wisely, they guide us toward the right perspective.

Let's draw inspiration from the incident involving King Jehoshaphat. Faced with an enormous challenge, his perspective shines through in his prayer: "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you" (2 Chronicles 20:12). Unlike Saul and his army, who relied solely on their abilities when facing Goliath, David, in a similar situation, exuded confidence because his perspective was rooted in his dependence on God.

Our perspective is paramount. Problems help us embrace life with the correct outlook, emphasizing our profound need for God's guidance and support.

Father God,

Please help me see things differently. Instead of dwelling on why this problem exists, let me focus on what I can learn from it. I trust You when things are good and when they're tough. You're always in charge.

In Jesus's name,

Amen

About this Plan

Thank God for Problems

“Do problems serve any purpose? If God is for me, then why am I facing this problem? Problems are uninvited guests and come in different forms. The reality is that problems are part and parcel of life, and followers of Christ aren’t exempt. Ironically, problems often contain hidden blessings within them. Join this 6-day devotional as we discover why we should thank God for problems.
