4 Principles of Wisdom From King Solomon

DAY 1 OF 4

When God revealed Himself to Solomon in a dream, he woke up with a gift of wisdom greater than any man on earth (Jesus is superior, being Himself wisdom incarnate). In one night, Solomon's life was turned upside down.

The question is: what was King Solomon's heart like in the early days of receiving this gift of wisdom from God in a dream? Let's look at it together.

1. He worships God first.

"Then Solomon awoke; and indeed it had been a dream. And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants." (1 Kings 3:15)

The first thing Solomon did when he woke up was to leave the city where he was, Gibeon, and return to Jerusalem to worship God. This great, freshly received divine wisdom immediately drove him into God's presence.

The first principle is that wisdom does not exempt us from God's presence; on the contrary, it draws strength from God's presence. A wise man after God's own heart is one who consults God and His principles in the Scriptures. A wise man's first reflex is to stand before God to consult Him and seek even more divine wisdom.

Solomon, divinely led after his dream, went before God. Our search for divine wisdom must always lead us to the secret place of our intimacy with God.

There is no divine wisdom without coming before God. There is no divine wisdom without divine presence. Wisdom is cultivated in our place of intimacy with God.

"Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones." (Proverbs 3:7-8)

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7)
