Inside Outናሙና
Have you ever set a goal and didn’t achieve it? Or have you tried different kinds of habit building methods, and still found it challenging to establish the habits you desire?
It’s because most of the systems out there approach from outside-in. They use the WHAT and HOW to define your WHO.
If we liken this concept to a circle, then the outermost ring represents the WHAT.
WHAT – The outcome and results we are pursuing.
The middle is the HOW.
HOW – The process and systems we use to get there.
The smallest, inner ring is the WHO.
WHO – The very core of why we do what we do. The identity.
Here’s the thing: God is NOT out to change our actions. He cares much more about renewing our minds, where the true and sustainable transformation takes place. Ezekiel 36:27 says that He puts His spirit within us, causing us to walk in his statutes. Therefore, God Himself renews us from within!
The world system in business starts from the outer ring first, setting goals and deadlines. Next, systems and methods to try to achieve the goals without addressing what kind of business leaders we’d like to become. We try to drive the result from external and limited resources. This is “outside-in” when we should focus on “inside-out.”
We have to deal with the “valley of disappointments.” The actions we take in these moments are the ones that separate the successful people from the unsuccessful ones because they stem from the core of who we are and who we want to become, not from the outcome goals.
Here is the inside-out approach that we must follow instead of the outside-in:
1. Understand who you are in Christ by meditating on God’s word daily.
2. Align yourself with the kind of leaders God desires you to become in THIS SEASON by communing with Him daily to receive clarity.
3. Have business meetings with Jesus often to set the goals based on WHOM you want to become.
4. Choose the proper methods to execute the plan accordingly.
5. Take small actions daily to establish new habits.
Focus on renewing your mind to enter the next level of leadership, and you will achieve goals as the byproduct.
Growth isn’t automatic. You need to turn off autopilot, and act with intention! It’s starts with the inside-out!
