Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 6ናሙና
Let’s turn to the book of Acts, chapter 27 and focus on verses 21 to 25. In this account, Paul and the other prisoners were on a ship destined for Rome. As they started sailing, Paul, either using common sense or divine wisdom, warned them that they would encounter a storm and lose not only the cargo but also their lives. But the captain was determined to bring the ship to Rome.
They were caught in a violent storm during the voyage and feared for their lives. But God is a God of love. Even when Paul and his companions were amid a raging storm, God had not forgotten them and sent an angel to reassure them that they would be saved. This is a reminder to us that God’s love and care for us are never-ending and that we can always depend on Him. Even during the storm, on accord with their own foolishness, Paul showed incredible compassion and grace for his fellow man.
Despite the storm, not knowing the outcome, Paul had incredible faith that God was with them, and he kept encouraging his fellow passengers. Paul had faith in God’s plan, and he was willing to trust that no matter what happened, God would keep them safe. This faith enabled him to remain calm in the storm and to give encouragement to the other prisoners.
Paul’s love for his fellow passengers is an example for us to follow. We, too can have faith in God, trusting that He will be with us even in the storms of life.
How can you love others, offering them the same encouragement and hope that Paul gave to the prisoners? May the Lord bless you today.
