Scripture
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its variousforms. 1Peter 4:10
Summary
God gave various gifts to His church. You were assigned a role by God and given gifts to carry out that role. You did not decide what gifts you'd receive. God did. The people around you did not choose the gifts they'd receive, either. God did. God sovereignly chose and designed you (and them) exactly as He wanted. We should be grateful that not everyone is like us. There is a variety of gifts in the body of Christ. We shouldn't disdain people whose gifts aren't like ours. Every gift is equally valuable. Because we are not all the same, we are able to accomplish more together. As musicians, this is obvious (we need a team to perform a song). But the same is true for the whole body of Christ. The Church needs both accountants and acoustic players; bassists and babysitters. Praise God for both!
Discussion Questions
1. Have you ever served in an area outside of music ministry? If so, where?
2. Besides your obvious musical gift, what other gifts do you think God gave you?
3. How can you show gratitude & honor to those who have gifts different than yours?
4. Any other thoughts, comments, ideas or questions you'd like to share?
Closing Prayer
Father God, You are the giver of every perfect gift. Thank you for designing each one of us so uniquely. Thank you for the variety of gifts in the body of Christ. Thank you that we need each other and that we're stronger together. You are the perfect designer! You are amazing. As we look around at each others' gifts, help us to be amazed, grateful, and to show honor to one another. Help us to use our gifts to serve one another and help each other grow in our relationship with you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
