Precious Moments That Count For Eternityናሙና
If You Can Believe
The story in Mark 9:17-27, is about a father who was at his wits’ end trying to get his son delivered from a deaf and dumb spirit. The evil spirit used to cause the boy to convulse and tried to kill the child by drowning him and by throwing him into the fire. Jesus’ disciples tried to cast out the spirit but they could not. So, in desperation, the father came to Jesus and implored Him, saying, “But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus replied, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
The story goes on to say that the father asserted his faith in Jesus’ ability to heal his son. At the same time, he acknowledged his doubts too (Mark 9:24). There will be moments in our lives when we are waiting for a healing, a financial breakthrough or a deliverance of a loved one from some addiction. While we are waiting, we could be riddled with thoughts, such as, ‘Will I see my miracle?’ Doubts will arise, but Jesus says, “If you can believe, all things are possible...”
We serve a God who is faithful to keep His Word (Jeremiah 1:12). It doesn’t matter what the situation looks like. What matters is that God honors faith. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, ... and He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
So remember, when doubts come, press on in God’s promises for your miracle, trusting that He is who He says He is, and He is faithful to keep His Word! His heart leaps when He sees His child declaring in the face of an adverse situation, “Father, I believe Your Word!” God hastens to act on your behalf, bringing His promise to pass.
Declaration
Father, I affirm my trust in You. I will hold on to Your promise believing that You are faithful to keep Your Word always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
