Precious Moments That Count For Eternityናሙና
Let’s Unite for a Higher Cause
On my visit to Israel, I had the opportunity of seeing the walls that this portion of scripture speaks about. I must say, seeing it in person really brings the scripture to life. The old city of Jerusalem is surrounded with these majestic walls on all sides, a sight, that we city people will have some difficulty comprehending.
To understand the significance of these walls, we must understand the context. A city without walls, in those times, meant that it was easy picking for bands of robbers. Without these walls, the Jews had no enclosure and found themselves intermingling with other cultures to the point of intermarrying and losing their own identity and culture. The wall gave them the confidence to make Jerusalem a truly Jewish city and control who came in and went out.
Nehemiah took on this rather impossible challenge and deployed a rather ‘unique strategy’. He got different groups of people across different tribes to unite and build the portion of the wall that was in front of them. With each group doing so, the whole wall was erected in the midst of severe opposition.
When I look at our city and the nation of India, I see several Christian groups, denominations and churches. I believe we have the same opportunity that these guys had; to put aside our differences, unite, and build spiritual walls in the areas, locations and fields that God has placed us in. The Church must unite and make a difference in the fields of art and entertainment, media, business, education, government and even politics!
It is time for Churches and Christians to unite in our efforts to build ‘spiritual walls’ over our cities and nation, so that the devil cannot enter and we can win India for Jesus. The time is now!
Prayer
Father, I don’t want to be lost in my own world, doing my own thing. Help me unite with fellow Christians and with heaven, in order to win my city and nation for Jesus. Amen.

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
