Precious Moments That Count For Eternityናሙና
The Rewards of Fasting
Fasting is a powerful weapon. I believe that when we fast, we seek God’s face and the presence of God anoints us with the oil of gladness. In the process, the mask that we put on in front of others, is washed away. We may be able to put on a different look before man but the Spirit of God knows us inside out.
While fasting, we become aware of our weaknesses and shortcomings, and are able to repent before the Father. Praying for others, especially the lost world around us, touches the heart of the Father and He rewards us. Isaiah 61:1 (KJV) says, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives.”
With this anointing, God’s kingdom becomes the focus of our prayer; not ‘I, me, and myself’! We stand in the gap, interceding for loved ones, neighbors and friends. What an anointing! Imagine when we pray, God breaks chains and sets people free, He comforts the broken-hearted, healings take place, crowds throng the prayer meetings, the good news spreads and there is an extension and establishment of God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. I shudder to think of what would happen if we did not have the right attitude and countenance when fasting. All would be in vain!
Prayer
Father, I pray, let me be transparent in my relationship with You. Let me not be a man-pleaser but a God seeker. Let me seek Your face; for in doing so, You will make known to me Your holy will; so that just like Abraham, I would intercede for the saving of the whole world. Amen.

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
