21 Ways To Thrive By 45ናሙና
Fight Injustice
Injustice is everywhere—down the street, across town, and around the world. Our newsfeeds report devastating accounts that tear our hearts in two. We wonder what we can do to ever make a difference. We see no possible way our measly one-woman efforts would ever make a dent in issues such as sex-trafficking, the orphan crisis, or homelessness so we do nothing. We say nothing.
Desmond Tutu famously said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." It's true. As followers of Jesus, we have a duty, an honor, to bring heaven to earth with our love and compassion. Our silence is a choice. One we can’t afford to make. Significant gains for the Kingdom of God are made as we fight injustice on the earth. God is not the source of injustice but the answer to it. As image bearers, we have a vital role to play.
When you’re overcome with the weight of the world’s brokenness, do for one what you wish you could do for everyone. For one, you can love, serve, and walk alongside to wholeness, freedom, and health. For one, you can raise a banner of respect, hope, and justice. If there’s an issue abroad that breaks your heart, may your compassion move your heart and feet to action. Discover who is doing an honest work and find ways to partner. Your one-woman efforts will make a difference and you’ll walk in the destiny God planned.
May we find our strength and life hidden in Christ as we stand up for equality, dignity, and the respect of all persons regardless of status, race, or economic standing. This is not a three-step process that we pass out on a touch card with a Bible verse slapped on the bottom. This is walking in the fullness of Christ as children of God and inviting others to take their place. This is true religion.
