Unwavering Hope

DAY 6 OF 7

How often do you practice?

Sometimes when I'm on stage, I can't seem to get a comfortable grip on the notes I'm singing. I feel the same way sometimes when I'm playing tennis, and I think, "That worked better before—why isn't anything working today?"

Most of the time, what I can't grasp is small. My mind discourages me, saying, "You've never been able to do that right, and you never will!" but I hear my coach's voice in my ear, too, even when he's not standing next to me: "Déborah, hold the racket tighter. Bend your knees." Or when I'm singing, I hear the voice of my vocal coach saying, "Déborah, open your mouth a little more…speak lower." As soon as I implement their instructions, I notice how much better everything starts to work again!

If you really want to go through life successfully, you, too, must have a coach whose voice you hear and whose instructions you apply. What better coach could you have than the One who gave you life, Jesus Christ? "'...I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.'" (John 10:10, NIV)

Jesus has provided you with an entire manual for life: the Bible! You may sometimes think it's hard to understand, but the more time you spend in it, the more you'll understand! I feel the same way when I practice tennis or singing. The more I train and practice, the more I understand.

You can be assured that the more time you spend with your life coach (Jesus!) and His living Word, the more unshakable your faith will become! Even when you feel like nothing is going your way, you will hear your coach's voice in your ear. :-)

Jesus wants to speak to your heart and give you His truth! Let the One who really knows you and wants the best for you be your coach every day!

You are a miracle!
