[Wisdom of Solomon] Five Cups of Tea With Momናሙና
Keep The Best Things The Best Things
What is your greatest motivator in life? Is it rewards of money and being known for something? There’s nothing wrong with having dreams and aspirations, but if you attain these things, who benefits the most? Will God get the glory or was He simply the “means” for you to get them? There are many great things in life, and God wants to provide and bless His children, but sometimes we miss out on His blessings because we live as if there is something better than what God has to offer. The teacup for today is to remind you to think about how your choices affect those around you.
Whether you realize it or not, every choice you make will affect those around you and, potentially, people you will be surrounded by one day. If you’re not careful, not thinking of how your decisions will affect those most important to you, your thoughtlessness could cost you and them. The solution to this is to learn to keep the best things in life as your priority, and not allow “good” things to rob the best things.
If we look to the life of Jesus, He healed many people, opened blind eyes, and made the lame walk. Yet His main goal wasn’t to just fix physical maladies but to change hearts. Every decision He made revolved around His love for the Lord and what His Father wanted for His life. In the Gospels, we see many times that His “face was set” on Jerusalem. His goal in life was to die for the sins of the world; He wouldn't allow anything to rob Him of that opportunity. Even in the garden of Gethsemane, when He had the chance to give this goal up, He chose God’s will and not His own. If God truly were your priority in life, what people, hobbies, and entertainment would have to change? What has robbed you of your relationship with the Father? It isn’t always easy to wrestle with these questions, but there is too much at stake to allow our will to supersede the Father’s will. If our goal is to be like Jesus, then we too must set our face on keeping the best things on top. We must not allow our flesh, the enemy, or the world to have it any other way.
Thought for today: Write a list of the best things in your life, and then maybe a list of good things that could rob your time and attention from the best things. Make sure that God is your priority so that you truly can live life abundantly.
ስለዚህ እቅድ
When we live anchored in the Lord, we can smile at the future and what is to come. We live from God’s love and freely give that love to others through our kind words, time, and attention. When we intentionally live this way, we walk in abundant life and leave a legacy and blessing for those to come.
