Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the Psalmsናሙና
He Can!
Have you ever played a game of hide and seek with your friends and, after a long time, realised that no one was looking for you anymore? Your friends had forgotten you were playing and stopped searching for you. It's a terrible feeling! There are days when we all feel forgotten. We feel like no one sees us. No one understands our problems or cares about us. There are days when we even feel that God doesn’t see us or remember us. If you are feeling that way today, know that you are loved, seen, and so delighted in. Our psalmist feels forgotten, too. Not only that, but he feels like God has forgotten all of His people. He is distraught because his enemies have come in and destroyed the sanctuary.
We, too, can become hopeless and discouraged when we feel like the enemy has arrived and is destroying our lives. You might feel there is no way back from the destruction that has happened in your life. BUT, BUT, BUT, God! From verse 12 through verse 17, he begins to declare all of the amazing things he knows God has done in the past, and his faith grows. He wants this powerful and good God to remember the poor and the oppressed. He wants the Father to act on their behalf. As we declare what we know of God and his goodness, we remember that He can do all things. He can rescue us from the enemy and restore us. He can rescue cities, nations, and the whole Earth.
GO DEEP: If you are feeling forgotten or unseen today, ask God to remind you of how much He loves you and fights for you. Is there an area of your life where you feel ravaged by the enemy? Bring it to Him and declare His goodness over yourself. Ask for His guidance and healing today.
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
