The Aetherlight Episode 2 Family Planናሙና
Down but Not Out
Jacob has become the underdog in this story, but we can't forget how he got there - by lying, cheating, and stealing. While the situation is a mess, it's a mess he contributed to. How easy is it to work through consequences like this? What do we usually do when faced with our self-inflicted downfall? How did Jesus respond to those who might have 'brought it on themselves'?
Something to think about while you are reading today’s passage:
In this speech, Jacob outlines all the crimes against him and quite justly puts Laban in his place. In the end, God has vindicated him. But consider the time frame he mentions: There have been decades of trickery and injustice! How quickly does God work, and what might determine that? Do you think vindicating Jacob was the main point of God's activity here?
Something to talk about with players of The Aetherlight:
Julian is once again just about at rock bottom, but he still has a mission. Maybe ask the player, would they have kept going in Julian's place or given up? It could be a good place to discuss commitment. The Scarlet Man is clearly committed to the plan he has given Julian - should Julian be any less committed?

The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is an exciting new steampunk game with a difference - It's an allegory of God’s amazing story in Scripture! Episode 2 continues the story of the fledgling Resistance, and the call to restore Aethasia under the guidance of the Scarlet Man. These studies help players who have joined the Resistance tie the game and the Bible together so they can grow in their part in God's story.
