Integral D-Tox, Prepared for Him

DAY 3 OF 5

Nutritional D-tox

According to data from the World Health Organization, obesity has tripled in the world since 1975. By 2016, more than 1900 million adults were overweight worldwide, and 650 million were obese. Nearly 40% of the world's adult population was overweight.  The majority of the world's population live in countries where the effect of overweight and obesity takes on more life than the opposite, hunger.  A recent report says that today's generation of children may be the first not to exceed their parents in average life expectancy, as it has deteriorated in quality due to junk food.

There is a kind of idolatry to food because despite knowing that excess is wrong, it is eaten anyway. Paul said the love of money is idolatry, and everything in God's place is an idol. Some people eat to calm their nerves, anxiety, sadness, or simply out of boredom; our God should be the place where we go to resolve all the emotions that have become dysfunctional and not a plate of food or a treat.

Paul also said no one should judge us in matters of food or drink. There is an inner alert from the Spirit to model Daniel and his friends by eating healthily to be more effective in the service entrusted to us.

One of the spiritual practices that help us a lot in food detoxification is fasting. Undoubtedly it can be challenging to do, but there are benefits of greater alertness to the things of the Spirit.

On the other hand, God has given us self-control, and He doesn't want us to be in bondage on this issue.

SELAH: If you recognize this as a subject of intoxication in your life, put yourself in the hands of the Father, confess that you have not had self-control, and ask him for His strength. Make a plan to fast, starting today if possible, and when you finish with each fasting, do your best to eat healthily.

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Integral D-Tox, Prepared for Him

We long for the Second Coming of Christ! The Scriptures tell us about the Church as a bride expecting the arrival of her Bridegroom, focused on His coming. A bride prepares for the great day of her wedding. In this plan, we will see how to prepare to be the delight of the Beloved, taking time to decontaminate and detoxify ourselves from what takes us away from Him.
