12 Encouraging Bible Verses

DAY 4 OF 5

God has equipped you with six things that empower you to live free from cowardice and deep-seated fear. Today, see yourself receiving each of these things as a gift from God to you so you can enjoy the life He has given you.

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” 2 Tim 1:7 (AMP)

God has given you a spirit of power. You are strong. Even when your strength wanes, He is your strength. He is your refuge. He is upholding you. You don’t have to be crippled in fear because you can gain strength from the Lord. Remember, 2 Cor 12:10 tells us that “our weakness is a portal to His power.

God has also given you a spirit of love. Your heavenly Father loves you, and God wants you to know how much he loves you (Eph 3:19). Love is powerful enough to cast out fear (1 John 4:18).

Remember in the Gospels when Jesus calmed the storm for the twelve disciples (Mk 4:35-41)? In that same way, He gives you a spirit of calmness. By the power of His word, “Peace, be still,” He can bring calm to your storms.

Anxiety and fear come with racing thoughts, but God has said He gives you a well-balanced mind. Amid panicked thoughts, ask the Holy Spirit to help you think on true, good, and praiseworthy things (Phil 4:8). The light of Truth dispels the darkness of fear.

Lastly, you have been given the spirit of discipline and self-control. You are upheld by Jesus Christ and don’t have to lose control no matter how afraid you might feel.

Now, ask God to help you today to live out the Truth of this encouraging verse.
