5-Day Harvest Fast Prayer Planናሙና
Introduction: Preparing Your Heart to Fast and Pray
Have you sown seeds of time, talent, or treasure into the Kingdom—but you have not yet received the fullness of your harvest? If so, you may want to consider going on a 5-day harvest fast.
First, what is a “harvest fast”?
A harvest fast is a period of time in which you set yourself apart to fast, pray, and seek God to do mighty things in your life. Specifically, you will be praying over all the seeds of time, talent, and treasure that you have sown into the Kingdom—seeds which should bring you a harvest that is much bigger than the original seed you sowed!
Is it Biblical to expect a harvest when you sow seeds into the Kingdom?
It sure is! When God created the earth, He invented seeds (Genesis 1:11-12). He commanded everything to reproduce after its own kind. He even ordained that every mature thing (e.g. a fully-grown tree) would originate in embryonic form inside the seed.
Just as you see in the natural world, so it is in the spiritual world and in your life. Every good thing begins with a seed and then grows into maturity. So, you can expect the BIG things you desire to begin with a mere seed!
God also ordained seedtime and harvest.
It's the nature of creation for everything to reproduce after its own kind.
This is just as true when we sow time, talent, and treasure as it is when we sow corn seeds, tomato seeds, or wheat seeds. Galatians 6:7-10 tells us:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:7-10).
From this passage, we learn that "seeds" are not limited to the reproductive matter that plants produce. Actions are also seeds, and every action brings its own harvest. Thus, you can and should expect a harvest on every seed you sow—whether for good or evil.
During this 5-day harvest fast, you will be asking the Lord to bless and bring you harvest from all the good seeds you have sown.
You will also ask Him for mercy; to cover any bad seeds you have sown (knowingly or unknowingly) with the blood of Jesus, and to protect you from any bad harvest by His mercy and grace.
Before you start your actual 5-day fast, I encourage you to take today to prepare your heart:
- Pray over your fast in advance.
- Ask the Lord to help you fast and pray with a right heart and good motives.
- Ask Him to show you what to fast and how to fast.
- Pray that the Lord would help you persevere through your fast.
- Ask Him to show you the results of your fast even while your fast is still in progress.
- Ask Him to bring you a huge harvest on every good seed you have ever sown.
- Make a list of the good seeds from which you have not yet received a harvest.
- Build your faith by reviewing your favorite Scriptures about answered prayer, and strengthen your faith to believe God for HARVEST on all your good seeds!
Then, we’ll see you back tomorrow for Day 1 of your harvest fast!
