Reset My Need
Most of us who grew up in the church were taught to do the right things. Many of us believe if we do the right things, God will love us. But really, we have it backwards.
Just like we talked about yesterday, God is looking at the heart behind our actions.
Today you’re going to read four short stories from the life of Jesus. In each of them, look at how each person approached Jesus. They didn’t come to Him and say, “What do I have to do for you to help me?” They simply believed and said, “Jesus, help me.”
Here’s a little spoiler. In the last story, a guilty woman comes to Jesus and washes His feet with her tears. His host, a religious leader, says Jesus should be condemning the woman. Instead of pointing out what she had done, Jesus points out what had been done for her. He forgave her and freed her of her guilt.
When we come to Jesus, it’s easy to say, “What do you want me to do?” Instead, we need to come to Jesus simply admitting, “Jesus, I need you.” That’s where He meets us.
