Real Hope: Peace in the Chaos

DAY 1 OF 5

The Author of Peace

We live in a chaotic world full of people living chaotic lives. Many are out there living in desperation, yearning for some kind of escape from the mess they’ve made of their lives. Chaos is defined as a state of disorder and confusion, even total disorder and confusion. It means to be in disarray, to be in turmoil. It means your life lacks order, peace and calm. Do you ever feel like your life is chaotic – that you yearn for order, peace and calm?

I once heard about a man who took long walks every day. When asked about inclement weather, he replied, ‘There is no such thing as bad weather, only improper clothing’. I think he made a very good point. There are some things in life we can do very little about like illness or bad news. We often feel we’re in the middle of chaos. We may want a neat, scripted life where everything goes smoothly and nicely, but experience shows that’s not the case. There are no guarantees that life will be serene and/or that every day will be smooth sailing. The only thing we can control is our reaction to the inevitable bumps in the road.

We can define chaos as a great disorder or confusion, a confused or troubling condition. Are you having confusion right now? Does it seem as if you can’t think straight? Does it feel as if you have too much to handle? Are things spinning around in your life, trying to take you down? Remember God is not the one bringing the chaos, mess and confusion. ‘For God is not the author of confusion but of peace’ (1 Corinthians 14:33a NKJV).

When we feel confused and frightened, we need to remember God is in control of our lives and knows what’s going on, even if we don’t.

Day 2

About this Plan

Real Hope: Peace in the Chaos

Look at finding peace in the chaos. In the world, in our community, in our own lives, chaos will come. But in those moments it’s good to know where to find peace that brings greater perspective, understanding and direction, and knowing that God is working all things together for His good and in His time.
