"One is the loneliest number." Agree or disagree? Some of us love our solitude, while others of us would rather be surrounded by friends and family as often as possible! No matter how introverted or extroverted you are, we were all created to need relationships and community. So when we or our loved ones are busy, far away, or not emotionally available, it makes sense that we'd start to feel lonely. But it's not always easy to admit (to ourselves or to others) when we're feeling this way.

Just like you may not feel comfortable sharing when you feel lonely, there are probably people you know who are wishing right now that someone would reach out to them. Maybe that someone is you! But being there for someone requires attention and intention. First, we have to pay attention so we can see when someone is in need and hurting. Then, we have to be intentional in reaching out. The point isn't just to be nice, although that's never a bad thing! The point is to extend the love of God to others through our love. And hey, maybe helping someone else through their loneliness might also help us through our own loneliness.

Has God ever been present for you when you were feeling alone? Who is someone who needs to be reminded they're not alone?
