"Only Wanna Sing”
You don’t want perfection
Just my soul’s attention
All I have is what I give
REVIVAL THOUGHT
How good are television music competitions?!
Thousands upon thousands of people audition in front of a table of judges just to be able to make it to the next round with the hope of winning.
The judges are looking for the perfect performance – something that will get people’s toes tapping, flawless vocals and entertaining moves. People give it everything they’ve got, but even then only a handful of people proceed to the final rounds.
“Have you got what it takes?”
Through Jesus we all have the opportunity to “make it” – all he requires is that we give him our all, our very best, and he makes us into something that can impact the world.
Too often we compare ourselves to other people, and can be left feeling like we don’t have much to bring. But God doesn’t look at the size of our giftings, our ability or our time – he looks at the size of our heart. Are we willing to give him everything (the good & the bad) and allow him to make something spectacular of our lives?
Jim Elliot, a young man who was killed for his faith in the mid-20th century, said: “He is no fool who gives what He cannot keep, to gain what He cannot lose.” When we give our all to Jesus, we gain His all in return.
HEART CHECK
1) Have you ever been in a situation where you had to prove that you have what it takes? How did you feel?
2) Are there areas in your life that you feel like you haven’t given to God yet?
3) What does the Bible say you would gain by giving these areas to God?
WALK IT OUT
If there’s something in your life that you haven’t given to God yet, write it down on a piece of paper. Fold it tightly and give it to God in prayer.
