Running With Vision: Mindsetናሙና
Get Back Up
I’ve fallen more times than I can count on runs… apparently, I have a gift at making running a contact sport. More times than not, my falls happen towards the beginning of my run which does not help with starting strong. However, because I forced myself to keep going, I developed a mindset change to challenges. I now see falls or any obstacle I come across on a run as an opportunity to get better. I think of how proud I’ll be of myself for sticking through it and finishing even in the midst of the pain or circumstance I found myself in. It’s so much easier to quit in the moment, but it’s so much more rewarding to finish through the difficulty. If I fall or something happens, I will immediately recall when I overcame the same thing, or something similar in my past, and tell myself, I did it before, I can do it again. My confidence continues to grow, and I’ll have an encouraging, or funny, story to share after I’m done.
Life is full of challenges. How do you handle them? Do you want to quit, or do you push through it? Celebrate the small accomplishments and build on them. Then when something comes your way, remember what you’ve done in the past and remind yourself you are capable. Talking about challenges, Joseph went through a lot of them. He was sold by his brothers and ended up in a foreign country as a slave. That was just the beginning. Time after time, he was knocked down, but he got back up. He kept working hard even though his situation looked like there was no coming back from it. Eventually, he was placed as second in command of all Egypt, and saved his entire family and many nations from starvation. God was working in the midst of all of it, strategically placing people in his path that would lead him down the road God had for him. If we get back up, God can use the experiences and challenges we’ve faced for something far bigger than we can imagine. How can you get back up today?
