Through the Bible: 1 Chroniclesናሙና
The Anointing of David and Team
Then the Spirit clothed Amasai, chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.” Then David received them and made them officers of his troops. 1 Chronicles 12:18(ESV)
From Saul’s death to the rise of David and the assistance he receives, we see the difference in regard to the consequences of our faithfulness. Saul died for his transgression while David was put on the throne because of his steadfast faith in God. It attracted all the help he did not imagine he would need. God not only anointed David but also anointed David’s team and set them aside for God’s purpose. The war belongs to God, not David. David sets us a great example of how we should uphold our steadfast faith in God, and how His purpose will always prevail in our life.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being the faithful one, that You are always there, and Your will and Your plan are above me and beyond my imagination. I pray that You lead me. We want to respond to Your love. Fulfill Your great plan in me, Lord. We thank You and pray all these in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Written in the postexilic period, the books of Chronicles present the history of Israel with a purpose very different from the other historical books like that of Books of Samuel and Kings - to remind the despairing remnants that God’s promise to bring forth a Messiah through the royal Davidic lineage still stands. Heaven and earth will pass away, but the LORD’s faithfulness endures forever.
