Who Is God?ናሙና
God is holy
That means that He is separate from his creation. He is very different from us humans. One important aspect of God's holiness is that He is sinless, separate from evil. He is absolutely and purely good. For the angels that Isaiah sees in a vision, this is enough reason to burst out in songs of praise.
This holiness of God nevertheless makes it impossible for us sinful humans to approach him. Only through Jesus' atoning death can our sins be “washed away”, so that we become clean again and can stand before God. Through faith, we can "put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness" (Ephesians 4:24).
The Holy Spirit, who dwells in the hearts of believers, changes their lives. He transforms them so that they "might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness" (Luke 1:74-75).
What feeling does God's holiness arouse in you? Do you long for the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in your life?
