Seven Lessons We Can Learn From the Israelites and Their Journey Through the Wildernessናሙና
We can learn so much from the Israelites and their journey from Egypt, through the wilderness, and into the Promised Land. They didn’t always get it right, but that is the beauty of having their story: we can learn so much from their journey to help us with ours. In this series, we will talk about seven lessons that the Israelites learned on their journey through the wilderness and how they apply to our current life and walk with God.
Israel had been in slavery for over 400 years in Egypt when God sent Moses to set His people free. They were crying out for freedom under the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, but did they truly know what real freedom looked like at all? All they had known was slavery for many generations. Moses had quite the job to do with this crew!
God equipped Moses through personal encounters and relationship with Himself to lead the Israelites to freedom. Like the Israelites, all we know is the culture that we have been born into and when God enters our lives, it can take some time to learn His ways. Since His ways are much different than our ways, a big part of our journey is just getting to know Him and His ways in order to follow Him. The good news is that He is with us, He is for us, and He always makes a way through. Let’s go on a journey and discover what we can learn from the Israelites!
Prayer: Thank You, God, that like the Israelites You have invited me on a journey to know You and Your ways. I am so thankful that You go with me and before me at all times. You have also given me Your word so that I can learn to follow You from others' journeys with You. Help me to remember to trust You and to know that You are always good!

The Israelites' journey can often mimic our journey with the Lord. Sadly, they were often found grumbling and complaining instead of being filled with faith and, therefore, missed out on some of God’s blessings for them. In this 8-session reading plan, we will go on a journey to learn from them, so that we can receive all the blessings God has made available to us.
