DAY 3 OF 3

FOCUS ON THE LORD

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” (Mark 5:36)

An athlete is not only required to train and work hard but also to focus during training and competition. What happens if he doesn't focus? His results will not be maximal and he will often lose. How many times have we lost? How many times have we not reaped the rewards of an achievement? Could this be caused by our lack of focus? When we are focused on something, we are serious about our work.

It is the same with our journey of faith. It is not enough to just believe in God. We must prove our faith with eyes that are fixed on Lord Jesus. Habakkuk. in his writings said, “Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls”. All of these circumstances represent difficult situations. Habakkuk decided not to focus on all of these. He decided to look only at God.

There is a story in Mark 5: 21-43, about a father who was going to ask Jesus to come to heal his dying daughter. On the way to meet Jesus, people told this father that his daughter had died. However, Jesus told the father not to pay attention to the words of those people and asked him to just believe.

Whatever our current situation, whether we are in distress, lack, or adversity, God tells every one of us to just believe and feel no fear. Why does God ask us not to be afraid? It’s because when we are afraid, we focus on what we are afraid of and not on God. Our faith will take a step back or even be crushed when we are controlled by fear or worry. Today is the day of the Lord. Let all of us who believe and focus on the Lord receive His power.

When our heart is completely for God, God will be completely for us.
