DAY 3 OF 3

Fishers of Moms

Motherhood presents one with the opportunity to meet mothers from all walks of life. Some psychologists propose that mothers have a natural desire to develop a relationship with other mothers. First-time moms particularly reach out to other mothers for mentorship, to teach them how to be a mother and help them become more confident in mothering. Christian mothers can maximize this natural desire as an opportunity to advance God’s kingdom agenda- the salvation of souls.

Our interaction with other mothers should be driven by a strong desire to make known the love of Jesus, not to make ourselves known. When we interact with a new mom, mom in the park, or first-time moms, it is an opportunity for us to shine the light of Jesus.

Like the disciples of Jesus were fishers of men (Matthew 4:19), we should be fishers of moms. When mothers reach out to us for support or counsel, we need to make the most of it to advance God's agenda. When we meet a new mom, we should seek to enter her world with the love and peace of God as the most important gifts we bring into the relationship. This is one way to practice Mark 16:15 which states, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

As Christian mothers, we should go into the world of motherhood and preach the gospel with words and acts of love to the moms we encounter. When we do this, we strategically increase the number of mothers in God’s kingdom.

Instead of being self-conscious when we interact with other moms, we can become soul conscious and God-conscious. Instead of primarily talking about our lives in a self-promoting way, we can focus on the needs of moms we meet at the mall, park, in pre-school, etc. in ways that would provide an opportunity for us to pray with them and tell them about Jesus.

When we focus more on the needs of the mothers we encounter and interact with them with a soul-winning agenda; we do not have to bother about what they think of us or our children. We can have a conversation or walk into a room filled with other moms like an ambassador of Christ on a mission to fish for moms and bring the gospel of peace into their lives. We should be kingdom-minded and conscious of the presence of God upon us and carry the peace of Jesus to the hurting moms we meet in person and virtually.

This new year, season, and every new day will present an opportunity for you to place God's agenda of salvation first in your interaction with other moms. I encourage you to make the most of it with your affection set on God.
