Real Hope: Seeking God's Purposeናሙና
Iceberg Progress
How do we move forward in life? How do we achieve success in our careers, our ministries, and our relationships? So often we seek quick fixes and microwave solutions. But there’s one thing I’ve learned; when we walk with God, it doesn’t usually work like that.
I think of it this way. Our lives are like an iceberg. We only ever see the tip. It’s way beneath the surface where all the action happens. Here is where God does His deepest work, setting us free from our insecurities and working on the deficiencies of our character. In order to progress our lives visibly, God first works on that which is invisible.
That kind of work takes time. We long for an easy promotion, but God calls for deep transformation. We seek overnight blessing, but He calls for patience. In fulfilling our purpose, we need to allow God to form us into His likeness and then to promote us according to His timing. This is iceberg progress. It may seem painstakingly slow, but the story of the Titanic shows us that icebergs have the power to move things far beyond what we can see.
