The Gospels in 30ናሙና
Day 28
John 16-17
“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17 ESV
Jesus was asking God to sanctify His disciples, to set them apart for holy service to God. More specifically, He says, “Sanctify them in the truth.”
Sanctification is a process where one becomes more like God and less attached to the things of this world. To become less attached to the worldly things, we must attach ourselves to the things of God - the primary attachment being His Word.
Jesus could have stopped at, “Sanctify them.” He could have also said, “Sanctify them in the truth,” and stopped there. He doesn’t. He goes on to say, “Sanctify them in the truth, your word is truth.”
God sanctifies us (sets us apart) by giving us truth to cling to. Jesus doesn’t leave us with an option to decide what is truth. He makes it crystal clear - His Word is truth. When we cling to His word, despite how we feel, God uses that truth to transform us and ultimately sanctify us.

During this plan, you'll read the entirety of the Gospels in just 30 days. Are you up for the challenge? Doing so will require 2-4 chapters of Bible reading each day, along with a deep dive devotion highlighting a couple verses from each day's reading. We hope you enjoy this plan written by Cody Griggs, missionary to Ecuador.
