What Trees Can Teach Us About God and His Kingdom — Part TwoSample

What Trees Can Teach Us About God and His Kingdom — Part Two

DAY 2 OF 11

In the place where the tree falls, there it will lie

The Bible is clear about our destiny: people are to die once and will then have to face God’s judgment. Nowhere does the Bible indicate that people will reincarnate or get a second chance. On the contrary, they will be judged according to their life on earth, and that judgment will determine whether they will live eternally with God on the new earth, or will spend eternity in hell.

In this respect, people are like a tree that is chopped down: in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie. It won’t move or stand upright again. That is a serious warning. We only have one chance, and there is so much at stake! Against this background, we can understand why the apostle Paul urged his readers: “We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20, ESV). For only if our relationship with God is restored by faith in Jesus, we will be welcomed into his Kingdom. If we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He will forgive and renew us. Only then can we do good and be acceptable in God’s sight.

You don’t know when your ‘tree’ will be chopped down. Therefore, make sure you are prepared! If you are not yet in a right relationship with the Lord, please take Paul’s call to heart: “be reconciled to God!”

About this Plan

What Trees Can Teach Us About God and His Kingdom — Part Two

When we try to find the central theme of the Bible, we might not immediately think of trees. But when we take a closer look, trees are mentioned quite often! Not as main characters or major topics, but they are frequently used as metaphors or symbolic representations of important truths. In this reading plan, we will read some Bible texts about trees, and see what we can learn from them.
