Fighting FOMO

DAY 9 OF 14

FOMO: Evangelism

You guys know the five points of Calvinism? How about the Trinity? Can you explain the importance of the virgin birth? No? Well, then good luck telling anyone about Jesus.

JK, guys!

Right before Jesus went back to heaven after rising from the dead, He instructed His disciples to spread the Gospel—the “good news” about what Jesus had done (Matthew 28:18-20). Specifically, to share the story of what they had actually seen Jesus do.

For us, this means telling our friends about Jesus and inviting them to church. We have an important job. There are friends around us who don’t know Jesus and could spend the rest of their life without hope—hope that we can offer them.

Sometimes that can be super intimidating. And we have all probably had that moment where we knew we should say something and we didn’t. Because, what would we say?

You don’t have to have all these Scripture verses memorized or any crazy theology to recite to them. All you need to do is tell them your story. What has Jesus done for you? How has He made your life better?

Use your story.

Yeah, telling someone about Jesus or inviting them to church can be awkward. Your palms may sweat and your heart may explode out of your chest. Luckily there’s no real danger in their response (and your heart will probably be fine). If they say no, that’s OK! But if they decide to visit church for the first time, who knows what could happen?

Just use your story. It could have the power to change someone else’s.

About this Plan

Fighting FOMO

FOMO. It’s what happens when everyone else’s great day stops us from enjoying our own. We’ll never find contentment when we’re constantly pursuing what might have been. Fighting FOMO was created by Fuse, the student ministry of NewSpring Church, to help students move past the fear of missing out and find joy in their present circumstances.
