Right Decisions and Applications

DAY 5 OF 7

Preparation for God’s Work

In the book of Matthew, we read that Jesus is praying in a garden. While He was praying, Judas arrived with a large mob that had swords and weapons. Jesus was still speaking when Judas walked in and interrupted Him. That is how sin often looks. Sin interrupts God’s work.

What kind of follower do you want to be? Do you want to be a follower who often stops and starts their relationship with God? You start it when it is convenient or easy for you, but stop it when things get tough. You start when you go to church and meet other believers, but stop it when you are attracted to and lusting over somebody.

I encourage you to be a follower who desires to walk with the Lord, regardless of the circumstances. Be a follower who wants to be led by the Spirit and is passionate about their journey with God.

Judas’ sin and betrayal interrupted God’s work. But, by the same token, Mary’s act of worship prepared and furthered God’s work. The Scriptures say that the pouring of the perfume prepared Jesus’ body for His burial. She anointed Him. Your life can be just like Mary’s. You can prepare for God’s work to be done.

Will you live a life continually asking, “What are you going to give me?” Or will you be like Mary and ask, “What can I give you?” Let me tell you, the joy of life is found in giving to others. It is more blessed to give than it is to receive. Take your perfume and pour it out. It does not matter if it’s expensive; give it to the Lord. Live life so that your name lives on. Have you ever been to a funeral where somebody says, “His best quality was that he always borrowed money from me,”? No! Most of the time you go and hear all the great things they did.

When you choose to be in the right place, make the right trades, and prepare for God’s work in your life, you invite Him to do something in your life and in your heart. He transforms you to be a reflection of Him.

About this Plan

Right Decisions and Applications

Are you in the right place physically, spiritually, emotionally? Disobedience and unrighteousness before the Lord are always a bad choice. Choose to walk with Him, in the good times and in the bad. Trust God’s goodness and provision.
