How to Plan for Success - Life Is Easier When You Know Where You Are Going

DAY 3 OF 6

3. Plan in Writing

The reason we can learn about God's plan for us today is that there have been people who wrote it down. There are many places when God asked the prophets to write down what He had said. He wanted people to remember what He had said, but also to be proof that He had spoken when they looked back on their lives.

When you take time praying to ask God about His plans for your life, it's not enough to try to remember. You won't. Sooner or later you will forget. And you might know God has spoken something, but all the details will be gone. And when God speaks, He wants His word to work in us, and He wants to bring it to fulfillment. If we value His work, we will treasure it. Imagine that you get an email from a famous person you admire. That email would be printed, framed, and hung on the wall so that you could look back on it. And that's exactly how we should treat God's words.

I remember the first time I wrote down my life goals right after I graduated from college — the goals about work, ministry, relationships, and others. When I went back to the list years later, I realized how God had made all of them come to pass. All of them! And these were life goals — no small thing. But if I hadn't had those goals written down, I probably wouldn't have been able to realize all that God had helped me through. Hence, that encouraged me to dream bigger and write new things down.

How to Plan for Success - Life Is Easier When You Know Where You Are Going

Sometimes we wonder why our lives seem to lack direction. Often we feel that we spend most of our time reacting to circumstances that life brings us, but the most common reason is usually a lack of planning. However, the Bible teaches us very valuable and practical lessons about how to find the right direction and effectively go through life making the most of what God has entrusted us with.
