THE POWER OF PRAYERSample

THE POWER OF PRAYER

DAY 4 OF 5

THIS NEW YEAR EVERYONE CAN DO SOMETHING

A preacher asked a servant girl who worked hard about the things she had done for the Lord. The girl explained that she only had a little time to get involved in “church work.” “But,” she added, “I always carry newspapers to my bedroom every night.”

Surprised, the preacher asked the girl what good could be done from the act. “Well,” the girl explained, “First, I will open a column on birth. I pray that every new-born will be brought to the Saviour at a young age and will be a great blessing to the world. Then, I will examine columns about marriage and pray that the couple will remain faithful to their spouse and build their family based on Christ. Then, I would open a page with announcements of death and mention the grieving family to the Lord, and ask that, in their sorrow, they would turn to God.”

Devotion

Prayer is something that can be done by everyone, regardless of education, experience or anything else. Each of us can pray for others and ask God to work in their lives. What is the burden of our prayers for the people around us? Let us continue to pray for them and we will see the power of God to be revealed in their lives.

The best thing a person can do for God or other people is to pray (S. D. Gordon)

About this Plan

THE POWER OF PRAYER

Prayer is the breath of life of every believer and a way by which we communicate with God. Prayer also shows that we need God at all times in our lives. When we have a strong prayer life, our lives will be guided by the Lord. Let us have a life of prayer and trust in the power of God who can answer every prayer.
