Galatians 1: Blinded by the Light

ቀን {{ቀን}} ከ7

Paul tells us that he didn’t just sit around when he discovered what the truth was. He began to preach it immediately. Some people think that Paul went off into Arabia to sort it all out, but I don’t think so.

Look at verses 17 and 18. It certainly says he went to Arabia, but was soon back in Damascus. Then, three years later, he went to Jerusalem for fifteen days to see Peter and James. (See verses 18 and 19.)

He knew too well what had happened to him, and he began to tell everyone. He couldn’t but tell the good news! So much so, that people were baffled by the fact that this one who had once tried to destroy every Christian he came upon, was now preaching their Gospel—the Gospel of faith in Jesus Christ (see verse 23).

People who knew Paul personally must have been staggered by the change in his life.

We’ve already seen that Paul knew he had been called to preach the Gospel to the non-Jews. He set about doing that immediately. This work was in Asia Minor, and it was not until fourteen years later that he returned to Jerusalem once again (see Galatians 2:1).

Let’s finish this plan in prayer.

If you believe in God, then thank your Heavenly Father that He has chosen you and revealed Himself to you. Thank Him for the testimony of Paul, and ask that you might be obedient, just as he was.

Ask that He might go on revealing Himself to you through the Scriptures, and that He will give you ears to hear and eyes to see the truth. Thank Him for the assurance that He has chosen you to come to know Him, and that He will go on revealing the truth to you as you are obedient to what He has already shown you.

Thank Him that He will safeguard you from straying from the true Gospel, and that He will give you wisdom to work out what is right and wrong when other people tell you things about Him, and about how to live as a Christian, which may not be the real truth.

Look to your Heavenly Father every moment of every day for His Spirit to lead and guide you along the right path. Ask Him to help you understand that you don’t have the ability to walk that path without His wisdom to lead you.

Galatians 1: Blinded by the Light

Galatians was written by Paul, who (at one time) hated anyone who believed in Jesus Christ. He spent all his time trying to wipe out Christians. Then one day, in blinding light, he came face to face with the resurrected Jesus Christ. What a shock it was! He discovered that this ‘dead’ man, whom he hated so much, was actually the Son of God! His whole life changed dramatically.
